I Love Old Hotel Stuff

Dear New Blogger Friends,
I Love Old Hotel Stuff!!!!
My father and I have been collecting old hotel stuff for 50 years and we want to know if anybody else loves this stuff as much as we do...
During the 1960's we started selling the contents of old hotels all over the country and vwala the beginning of our collection. Now we have all this old stuff from the hundreds of hotels we sold out and wonder if anyone else cares about seeing our collection. We have soooo many stories about what happened during our sales and wonder if anybody is interested in hearing some of them. Also, thousands of people bought stuff from us and we wonder if you have any stories from your sale experience.
Dad is 83 now and this is a labor of love for us because we Love Old Hotel Stuff, does anybody out there share our passion?

I remember working for Donald Trump at the Commadore Hotel in New York City before he was famous. It was a 2000 room hotel. It was 42 stories above ground and 7 stories below ground. It is now the Grand Hyatt. It sits right on top of Grand Central Station at 42nd & Lexington. I remember bumping into John Lennon at the sale.

Actually I met John Lennon at the Commadore liquidation. It was this quick; Lennon said,"thank you very much"; I let him (and Yoko) line jump; to enter the sale.

But also remember "the Donald" would be at the Commadore every Sunday morning; and he asked me, "did you have permission to sell the ballroom floor"?

There was alot of partying going on back then; the 60's,70's, 80's. Imagine living in closed hotels and all the creative after hours fun one could have. Wow!

Is there anyone interested in helping to write a book about the escapades of the hotel liquidation crew spaning over 50 years? A ghost writer would be necessary to work with Clem the original founder. There are hundreds of photos and hotel items in the collection and he needs someone to put it all together...

I remember the first hotel liquidation that I worked at in New York City, it was the Dorset. Sylvester Stallone was shopping in the gift shop. I think i was 14 and working at the front desk and couldn't believe all of the people that would flood through the doors every 15 min.

When I was little my favorite thing to do at the sales was jump in the 10-20ft pillow piles :)

I wish you could place your blog on a national website, so masses of population who browse key words like "hotel", "memorabilia", "hotelantiques" "hotel collectibles", "hotel liquidations" "hotel silver" can find your blog.

I think a Hotel Liquidator site would work.

Well because of Mr. John Klesch, I got to experience the hotel liquidation business. He had many stories of working with Clem and the "Original" liquidation crew. I loved it. The stories he told me were so funny and amazing. I'm sure Clem, your book would be awesome. I will be the first one to buy it. Do it! John always wanted to do it but never did and now he is gone! The "Captain" John Klesch taught me the liquidation business and I spent many a night over Vodkas hearing his war stories about the old days. He was the only one to liquidate a passenger cruise ship and liquidate two hotel and a convention center simultaniously.
He was a member of the "Hotel Liquidator Hall of Fame"

I will be the second person to buy your book

Selecting and booking the hotel can be tough and time consuming, especially if you're going to visit a place for the first time.

Barbara? It's been years! I worked at the store in Inkster. How is life treating you? After reading your post I'd like to say that I'm sorry to read of John's passing. I hope all is well. Lisa P.
